Wat Samrong or Wat Pong Suwan Wanaram is located by the Chao Phraya River, near In-Buri market.

How to get here

Drive along the canal from downtown Singburi towards In-Buri district. You will pass Wat Sathit Wattanaram and Wat Sala Khodom, keep driving straight until you're at In-Buri intersection.

Then turn right and go straight for another 1.5 km until you see the bridge, drive under the bridge and immediately turn right. The temple is on the right.

There is a local market called "Talat Wat Samrong", held every Friday evening within the temple grounds and along the river. It's quite popular among local people. Please come and help support villager products.

Interesting things

1. a pavilion with green-red gable roof enshrines Buddha statues and famous monk statues.

2. a small building next to the pavilion is where you will see a big white Buddha statue, named Luang Pho Khao. The Buddha statue is in the middle of the room and surrounded by small Buddha statues.

Besides LP Khao, another equally beautiful one is a white Buddha protected by Naga snakes.

What probably makes you feel a bit creepy is the walls with cavities - each cavity hold cremation urn. I think I should tell you about this because I am not sure whether you want to walk inside.

As for the ordination hall, it's always closed and there is nothing except few Buddha statues.

วัดสำโรง

วัดสำโรง หรือ วัดพงษ์สุวรรณวราราม ตั้งอยู่ อ.อินทร์บุรี การเดินทางให้ขับรถเลียบคลองโดยเริ่มจาก วัดสถิตวัฒนาราม, วัดสาลโคม ขับรถมาเรื่อยๆ จนถึงสี่แยกอินทร์บุรี จากนั้นเลี้ยวขวา ขับตรงมาประมาณ 1.5 กม. จนเห็นสะพาน ให้ขับรถลอดใต้สะพานแล้วเลี้ยวขวา วัดจะอยู่ทางขวา ติดริมแม่น้ำเจ้าพระยา

ภายในวัดมีตลาดนัดด้วยนะ ชาวบ้านเรียกว่า "ตลาดวัดสำโรง" จะมีทุกเย็นวันศุกร์ ตลาดนี้ใหญ่รองจาก ตลาดนัดคลองถมสิงห์ แวะมาช่วยกันอุดหนุนสินค้าของชาวบ้านหน่อยนะคะ ของราคาถูกทุกอย่าง

ส่วนสิ่งที่น่าสนใจภายในวัด ได้แก่ วิหาร 2 หลัง หลังแรกเป็นวิหารยกพื้นสูง ซึ่งประดิษฐานพระพุทธรูปและรูปหล่อของพระเกจิ ส่วนวิหารอีกหลังประดิษฐาน หลวงพ่อขาว อยู่กลางวิหาร และพระนาคปรก

ภายในวิหารหลวงพ่อขาว อาจจะดูน่ากลัวนิดนึงเพราะ กำแพงทุกด้าน เก็บอัฐิของผู้เสียชีวิต ถ้าใครกลัวก็ไม่ต้องเข้าไปนะ
